Bit Flipping Key Encapsulation for the Post-Quantum Era

It is a matter of time before quantum computers will break the cryptosystems like RSA and ECC underpinning today’s internet protocols. As Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) low-cost approach compared to others key distribution, National Institute Standards Technology (NIST) has recently reviewed analyzed numerous approaches PQC. PQC candidate, Bit Flipping Key Encapsulation (BIKE) expected be standardized as general-purpose Mechanism (KEM) by NIST. However, it lacks comprehensive review BIKE associated with technical analysis. This paper aims present an in-depth analysis scheme respect relevant attacks. We provide original McEliece (ME) detailed discussion on its practical challenges. Furthermore, we study challenges ME in achieving Indistinguishability under Chosen-Ciphertext Attack (IND-CCA) security. these their security against several attacks pointing out research gaps for strengthening BIKE.
